Lately, I’ve found a new love of copper accessories for my kitchen. For a while, I had been admiring various pieces while out shopping, but I’d stop myself from buying anything because I just didn’t think I could make it match my decor. I decided to buy some utensil holders and that’s how my copper kitchen accessorizing began in November. Since then, I’ve been buying more pieces, but I also found copper spray paint. That meant I needed to hit the thrift stores and find some items that could easily be given makeovers. These copper painted thrift store finds and some items I already had have given my kitchen and breakfast nook a new look. I’ve been pricing various copper kitchen accessories as well as decor pieces and they can be pricey. But finding Krylon Metallic Copper Spray Paint has been a game changer. It’s not only inexpensive to change the look of several pieces, it’s easy, too!
Before I show the thrift store finds, these are the utensil holders I bought at Kirklands. I love the hammered copper look. I had been eyeing these for a while and when they were marked at 20% off and I had a coupon for another $10 off, I decided to buy three of them.
The canister set also came from Kirkland’s. I love the anchors and their color matches well.
I purchased a couple of copper items from TJ Maxx. The anchor and the pineapple are both pieces that blend in with my other coastal and Charleston decor. I also found the spoon rest there. The salt and pepper shakers were Christmas gifts.
Before I hit the thrift store, I decided to paint a few of the accessories I already have. I didn’t take any before photos of them, because they were just all standard stainless steel. After spray painting, they all looked great.
Over the last month, I’ve been on the hunt for items that go with my decor that can be changed with nothing more than paint. I’m delighted to have found several pieces at my local Goodwill store.
This silver palm tree candle holder was one of the first pieces I found.
I gave it two coats of paint to give it full coverage. Once it was dry, I gave it a coat of Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Spray.
These two small baskets caught my eye at Goodwill, too.
After being painted, I’ll use one of them for holding cocktail napkins. I’m not sure what the other will be used for, but I’ll come up with some use for it.
This small nautical trivet fits right in with my other nautical decor.
I love its copper look now.
The total cost for these items was $7.00. Can’t beat the price or the ease in which they were given a new look.
I’m enjoying the look of copper accessories throughout my kitchen and breakfast nook area.
I’m using the nautical piece as a wine trivet, one of the small baskets for cocktail napkins, and the candle holder adds more of the coastal flair that I love. The serving tray was piece I found at Home Goods. The pineapple glasses came from TJ Maxx.
Spray paint is almost always a great option for changing the look of thrift store finds or older items that you already have. If the pieces are in good condition, but just need a little makeover, it’s easy to get a new look inexpensively.
