Now that seasonal decor has been put away, it was time to refresh my breakfast nook tablescape. While it’s feeling a lot like spring in Charleston already, it’s not quite time for spring decor. My go to for in between times is a coastal themed tablescape. These DIY sea shell napkin rings give a pretty finishing touch to my breakfast nook.
A couple of years ago, I repurposed some old napkin rings for a coastal autumn tablescape. I decided to give the napkin rings a new look. I removed the small shells and sea glass and was left with a plain, burlap covered ring. The burlap is a roll of tape which was great for this since there was no fraying. The adhesive wasn’t very strong though, so I added a small drop of hot glue to keep it in place.
I chose to use some large shells for the makeover. I painted them using DecoArt Peaches ‘n Cream acrylic paint.
Using hot glue, I attached the shells to the napkin rings.
To bring my coastal tablescape together, I used layering. Starting with a natural straw runner, I topped that with burlap covered chargers. The coasters are bamboo squares.
I’ve had this set of dinnerware pinned for a long time, but I kept telling myself that I really did not need more dishes. Lucky for me, Gloria saw the pin and gave the set to me as a birthday gift last year!
I finished off the tablescape with a centerpiece that I put together a while ago. Shells and a pretty candle go well with the dishes.
I found these perfect glasses at the Dollar Tree. You can’t beat the price and they match the dinnerware wonderfully.
I love using coastal decor throughout my home and our breakfast nook is a great spot to showcase it. I’m enjoying the shades of teal and blue.
